Houses
St Francis CE Primary School has four houses:
- Yellow House
- Green House
- Red House
- Blue House
The school House System is designed to embody the values and ethos of St Francis and is an integral part of our school community. It is our ambition that the House System alongside the School Council will enable our pupils to have a stronger voice in decision-making across the school.
The objectives of the House System
Our objective is to give every child in each house and those who take positions of responsibility the following:
- A sense of belonging
- Positive role models from within their peer group
- A sense of achievement outside the classroom
- Fun and excitement through competition
- Curiosity and creativity
- Leadership
- Individual and collective responsibility
- The confidence to be courageous, take action and develop a spirit of adventure
- The development of communication skills, flexibility and resilience
House Meetings
Each House has two Captains represented by Year 6 children. The House teams will hold meetings during the year alongside the School Council to brainstorm ideas for House events and activities for our children to take part in. Events and activities may include Well-Being assemblies, Values assemblies, charity fundraising and school fundraising.
House Points
Children in each House strive to earn as many House points as they can for their House throughout the academic year. Children can earn these points for good work, positive behaviour or participation in certain events and activities. Children may also earn points for achievements outside of school.
House Competition
Throughout the year, various competitions will be set. Children who participate and winning entries will be rewarded with House points for their team. Children competing in our annual sports days will also now be competing as House teams. At the end of each term, the House with the most points awarded overall will receive the House trophy.
